Pictures from a recent visit to Plant in Asheville, NC. Everything there was simply incredible, beautiful and delicious, so I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to eat and likes to eat well.
We started with the Loaded Potato Soup that was topped with Shiitake “bacon”. The dish was creamy and rich, and the “bacon” was pretty spot on and awesome. Is that not beautiful?
My entree was the Jerk (because I am, so I figured go with what I know) - char broiled seitan, smashed sweet potatoes, braised kale and plantains. The flavors played off of each other so well in this dish! It was not too spicy, though I seem to recall The Husband thinking otherwise.
The Husband went with the Smoked Portabello Steak, which featured spinach and gaaaaaaahlic, crisp loaded polenta, grape tomato salad and “V1” steak sauce. Another fabulous dish from my taste, and The Husband really enjoyed it.
Deserts were our favorite part I think. The Husband had the “Cannolo”, which was an anise shell filled with candied orange ricotta, came with a warm espresso puddle and mocha ice cream. Completely vegan, and he exclaimed it was as good if not better than any dairy based canoli he’d had in the past. I tasted it, and it was quite yummy and rich.
My desert was the Live Key Lime Parfait - a cinnamon date crust with lime cashew cream and almond granola making up the layers. Topped with fresh fruit (and a sprinkle of powder raspberry to boot)! This was the most exquisite bite of food I’ve ever had, and easily the best desert I’ve ever had in my entire life. I was sure to take several hours eating it, as it was very rich and tasty… and heaven in every bite.
Visit Plant, for they are awesome!
